Rumor: Vince McMahon May Have Banned Another Wrestling Term

From the man who doesn’t like title belts to be called belts, Seth Rollins to do his creative finisher, or even the use of pronouns, Vince has apparently decided to eliminate another wrestling element from his show.

According to Dave Meltzer of F4WOnline.com, the next item on Vince’s hit list might be the term “backbreaker”? Yeah, that wrestling move that has been called by that name for decades is rumored to be stricken from the WWE lexicon on Vince’s orders.

The genesis of the rumor being started was the Sheamus Vs. Roman Reigns match from this past edition of Monday Night Raw in which Michael Cole called “The Irish Curse Backbreaker” a “Knee to the Spine”. Forgive me for saying so, but “Knee to the Spine” strikes me as more of a description of the move rather than an actual name.

We’ll see if this becomes a trend going forward, but given Vince’s bizarre quirks over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if it was true.
